Gettin' in the groove
We're halfway through the week and it feels like we're finding more rhythm as a team and having a steady schedule. It's been really good!
Today was H@ngout day, so our plan was to make spaghetti to take to eat there with the students and everyone. This morning I woke up kind of early, not really lol, I spent time with the Lord and read the next 2 chapters of 2 Corinthians. I ate breakfast and then Sam and I went to get drinks to take to H@ngout. When we got back we put the pasta in containers and then got in an Uber and headed to Heredia. We got there and saw Celeste (one of the students in H@ngout) so we joined her until everyone else got there. Everyone chatted for a while, majority of the conversations were in Spanish (obvi) but Esther was sitting next to me so she translated some of what people were saying. Since today was the last wednesday of the month, Lagos and Ana like to celebrate all the birthdays of that month so they brought a cake. We sang happy birthday and continued hanging out for a while. Even though I was not specifically a part of many of the conversations during the actual H@ngout time I could tell that everyone was really enjoying their time, it was just filled with a lot of joy. At one point Lagos started sharing about what they will be talking about for the next few weeks during H@ngout, which is talking about how "Love is the way" in all we do love is the way to go. I'm excited to experience that, I feel like that is a great way to enter into a gospel conversation at least on individual basis with the students there. H@ngout right now is a safe place where any students can come and enjoy food together and enjoy each others' company. This is a way that they want to meet people to build relationships and individually go into deeper conversations kind of like discipleship.
Then we all noticed that it was about to rain so we moved from the grass to a covered area nearby. Most of the students had to go because they had class, but Diana, Tania, and Rodrigo (Tania's brother) stayed to hangout longer. We played cards for a while, at first we played Go Fish and then we played Spoons. Both really fun games. We played a lot of card games for a few hours and just vibed there. At one point we had a game of Speed tournament, it was indeed speedy. There was a lot more people today then there was last week which is awesome! Our whole team has officially joined the H@ngout groupchat so that we can plan things to well you guessed it hangout with them outside of the specific time. The idea behind us four joining the groupchat is to create plans with them without the pressure of Lagos and Ana being there. This will hopefully allow the students to be more inclined to hangout with each other outside of that time, you know building community with each other. We'll see what the Lord has in store for that :)
At around 4:45ish our team and Lagos and Ana went to a coffee shop called "Coffeeholic" to get you know... coffee lol. It was indeed very good! As we are now in the second week it feels like we are all getting more used to each other and I think everyone is becoming more comfortable with each other which is so fun because more of each our personalities are coming out more. During the conversation there I learned that I really need to go to a concert (I've never been to one), because they just sound so fun! I just don't know who I would go see for my first concert. Everyone recommended that I see Coldplay for my first one because they are very very good when it comes to live music. If anyone has any recommendations for concerts that I should go to you should drop it in the comments 😃! Once we were done we all headed home.
Now Matthew has cooked dinner for us 4 and then we'll maybe watch a movie, the suggestion was Monster Inc (not by me surprisingly)! Tomorrow at the CDI we are ordering pizza because we're celebrating all the May birthdays among the kids so that will be really fun!
Prayer Points!
